With a passion for environmental education, bushnooky creator was inspired to turn walks in the bush into creative adventures filled with lessons, discovery and storytelling.
Elyssa has more than five years of experience as an environmental educator and champions environmental conservation initiatives across the ACT both personally and professionally.
As a mother, Elyssa is driven by how children engage with the natural world and how we can support meaningful connection from an early age to build the foundation for positive environmental stewardship.
What is bushnooky?
bushnooky draws its name from a blend of nostalgic Australian storytelling and a love of small, cosy spaces in nature. In part the name was inspired by Aussie classic Gregory Ghostgum and the Bushnook Bunyip by Andrea and Richard Galbraith, evoking that sense of playful folklore and childhood wonder.
It also draws on the imagery of a “nook,” as a sheltered, cosy corner. A bush nook extends this idea into the natural world, creating an inviting space to connect with the environment. Together these influences shape bushnooky as a way to facilitate big connections in small spaces.
