Texture Collecting

Rock Impressions, or frottage art, is a hands-on way to explore the textures, patterns and stories of rocks. Participants use paper and drawing materials to capture the surface details of rocks features, slowing down to closely observe unique natural markings created over time. The process can be a truly grounding experience and fosters connection to place and country.

Participants also receive an ink pad and kneadable stamp to create instant impressions of natural textures. These workshops facilitate the creative practice of texture collecting while providing education about the ACT region’s unique geological history and ecological landscapes.
